Ryan is our technical solutions provider – he built NeochaEDGE from the ground up and maintains most of the site’s day-to-day nuts and bolts. A self-taught designer and Web programmer based in Suzhou, he spends more hours online than anyone he knows. He’s best known as founder of the China expat portal Lost Laowai; and human aggregated China news site, the Hao Hao Report. Canadian by passport and Chinese by marriage, he has spent the last half-decade living in China.

Prior to arriving here, Ryan was the Assistant Editor (or ass-ed) of several widely-distributed Canadian publications, including Canadian Musician magazine and Professional Sound magazine. Now in work-imposed isolation, he can hardly believe that not so long ago he was eating dinner with Green Day and hanging out with Moby’s sound guy. He also likes to name drop.

When not staring at his monitor, Ryan can usually be found taking photos, playing guitar or drinking rum — usually no more than any two at a time. He owns a Journalism-Print diploma and wonders if one day he’ll again put it to use.
