Neocha.com-user Bonjour has long been one of my favorite young Chinese photographers. He produces stunning shots from his home in Tianjin and from his travels abroad. He recently uploaded a set of hauntingly beautiful images capturing subways stations in the northern France town of Lille (and a few other small towns nearby Lille). All of these photographs were taken between the hours of 4 – 6 a.m., hence the lack of passengers. The panoramic angle for each photograph extenuates the symmetry of the stations’ design / architecture, and the people-less scene adds an eerie sense of abandonment. As you may have guessed, the first banner for NeochaEDGE is one of Bonjour’s photographs. Below I have shared a few of my favorites from his subway series. At the bottom of the post I have embedded the full slideshow – link here for a larger screen version and here for the embed code.
