EDGE Creative Collective member and Shanghai-based multimedia visual artist Dora.S (aka: Wang Meng) will be giving a solo lecture at the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art on July 27th. We hope our friends in Shanghai won’t miss out!

Wang Meng is a graduate of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and currently lives and works in Shanghai. His art encompasses multiple disciplines including animation, graphic design, illustration, painting, and digital art. His slogan is, “If I gave up playing with my transformers just so I could get as many little flowers as all of the other kids at school, I would regret it for the rest of my life.” According to Wang Meng, “Since I was in elementary school, I studied the standard art curricula, but deep down my real passion was for manga. In college, I went on to study design, but I used all of my spare time to create large-scale oil paintings and illustrations. To me, the distinction between design and ‘pure art’ is just a formality. I have a lot of experience in both fields, so I always felt a little divided. After graduation, I’ve had times when I’ve felt lost or stagnant. But because of my love for music, I started collaborating with all kinds of musical artists to put on performances. I felt like I found a new medium of expression, and before I knew it, I was already deep into the field of new media. I hope to share my works and experiences from over the years, and the things that have inspired me to become who I am today.”
