nini sum’s “tree man” ///

See below for the latest from Shanghai-based multi-artist Nini Sum – an acrylic painting on a wood slab. Superb!

The piece, titled Transmission, is 30×30 cm and was painted on a 4 cm-thick cross section of a tree trunk. It incorporates the rings of the tree for natural texture. The eye of the trunk cross-section is also the eye of the “tree man,” and when you view it at an angle, the outer rings look like they are radiating from the eye. The body / flesh of the “tree-man” preserves the original color of the wood with only light painting – the “tree man” is actually the real tree.

This could be the coolest thing we’ve ever posted on NeochaEDGE. Bravo Nini.
