Although we rarely report on the music scene of Chengdu, it is a place that never has a lack of great performers. With that said, we would like to announce the joint performance of folk musician Yi Sihong and psychedelic progressive rock band Proximity Butterfly this Friday (Jan. 24th) at the Little Bar. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience a performance  like you’ve never imagined.

Yi Sihong, from Leshan, organized the band Shuilan in 2003. After Shuilan disbanded in 2010, Yi Sihong moved on to a solo career. Proximity Butterfly is a progressive rock band that formed in 2003. The band currently consists of lead guitarist/vocalist Joshua C. Love, bassist Heather Love, guitarist Cong Pai, and drummer Wang Yong. Their music encompasses Led Zeppelin’s retro feel, Pink Floyd’s psychadelia, The Mars Volta’s energictic rhythms, and the ethereal tactfulness of Jane’s Addiction. As they themselves say, “Proximity Butterfly’s passion melds art and life together in a spectacular display of the extreme beauty and power that exists in the rich imaginations of people’s souls.”
