  • an installation from shanghai street artist and EDGE Creative Collective member HURRICANE

See below for a very cool installation piece by Shanghai-based OOPS CREW & EDGE Creative Collective member Hurricane (aka: Huri or 哈里).

This is what Hurricane had to say about the piece:

“The original inspiration for this installation piece came from seeing more and more local graphic designers / digital artists – who don’t really understand the essence and meaning of street art culture – superficially using graffiti elements in their design work.

In this piece I’m trying to show these designers that they should bust out of their computer monitors (hence the spray paint cans bursting out of the monitor) and abandon their software-based design, and actually go experience what it’s like to do graffiti for real.

I used silver / gray to represent the color of a city wall. I added some pink, yellow, and blue to represent the three primary CMYK print colors. For the mouse, I used a filter from the gas mask I wear when painting. Hahaha.”
