  • a very happy “xiao nian” from shenyang illustrator brannon

Shenyang based Neocha.com user (and brilliant illustrator) Brannon just sent us a piece he did for Chinese “Xiao Nian” (小年), a holiday that celebrates the Chinese “Kitchen God” (Tsao Chun, aka: Zhang Dan) on the 23rd day of the Chinese calendar’s 12th month (about a week before Chinese New Year).

As always, Brannon expresses his troubled world through raw emotion and vivid authenticity. His work never lacks controversial or risque elements – blood, gore, violence, nudity, sex, anger, love, hate, religion, multilingual vulgarity, drugs, excess, distorted pop-culture, and rock ‘n roll are all common place in his illustrations – for the most part, this piece is no exception.
