film | hutong dream ///

See below for a superb animated film titled The Dream at Hutong (胡同的梦, probably more accurately translated as “Hutong Dream”) by Li Chao (李超), an undergraduate student majoring in animation at China’s Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing. Through a series of interrupted dreams, the film shows a lonely old man’s blurred perception of reality as his monotonous life hurdles toward its end – death. The film was Li Chao’s graduation project at CAFA. It took him over a three and a half years to hand draw and color (chalk and oil paint) the roughly 600 images used in the film’s animation.
