Daniyar Nusupal (达尼亚尔·努素甫艾力, aka Dani or 达尼) is a post-80 generation Chinese creative originally from Urumchi, Xinjiang who now lives and works in Beijing. Even though he works as a flash designer for OgilvyOne China, in his free time, he enjoys making music with his band 不共识 (aka “Disagreement”), and working on his own illustrations and videos. Stop-Motion Super Mario (超级玛丽的定格盾画) is an amazingly resourceful and detailed short film he did in March 2009 that captures some of the most quintessential levels and moments from the original game with all sorts of fun and random local Chinese elements – just superb! Check it out below.
Dani told us that he worked by himself on the film, but that he hopes someday to work with a group of friends or collaborators on larger-scale projects. We’re certainly looking forward to that!
