See below for a pair of 1980s X 2010 made-to-order hybrid / DIY concept Nike sneakers from Beijing-based designer Wang Zhijun (aka: Dragon Wang). The soles are from this year’s 25th anniversary throw-back edition Nike Air Jordan IV’s. The body / uppers were designed and handmade by Wang himself, marking the first time he has worked in the “shoe” medium.

The inspiration for Wang’s hybrid kicks comes from his passion for retro AJ’s and a nostalgic affinity for 1980s-style Chinese “pizhi liangxie” (皮制凉鞋), which, while very 1980s, can still be spotted on the streets of almost any city in China.

We love them – well done Zhijun!
