Dark Rain is the work of Taiwan-based animator and digital artist Ou-Bau Tsai, who is also the head of CMIE Design. His award winning animation was shown at the 2009 Prix Ars Electronica festival and also at last year’s Shanghai Art Museum “Taiwan’s New Generation of Art” exhibition. The animation’s “underground” and industrial style, with repetitious machine like characters movements ,and dark scene sequences left a deep impression on us. The lead character takes a tough stand against the predictable failures of everyday life, causing viewers to think about the realities of society and the human condition – something we should all do more of.
Unfortunately, we’ve only been able to find a version of Dark Rain on Youtube, which is not ideal for China-based readers. We are urging Ou-Bau Tsai to upload it to Tudou or Youku, if he does so, we’ll share with everyone. In the mean time, check out some stills below.

Very cool industrial feel to it. I hope readers in China get a chance to see it.
