You don’t typically think of comics and farming going together, but Tokyo-based artist Koshi Kawachi has done just that. Using old manga books as a growing medium, radish sprouts are raised in between the books’ pages. The “Manga Farming” technique was recently exhibited in an installation at the Nagoya Matsuzakaya department store.

Jakarta-based street artist Darbotz caught our eye with his signature black and white squid monster named CUMI. Darbotz explains that the huge, swirling tentacles characteristic of CUMI represent the chaos of Jakarta.

He’s always smiling, but he’s also angry. He’s angry at the traffic, the government, the pollution, the corruption. [...]

in the neighborhood | a flipbook style parkour stop-motion film ///

We recently came across a fantastic viral stop-motion film from Singaporean design student Serene Teh, who also goes by the moniker “Saggyarmpit.” The animation is brought to life in an old school flipbook-style with each frame individually illustrated and folded to follow the parkour action.
