Based on the theme “Your Hope for the Future” and the UK Pavilion’s focus on sustainability / green, we worked with seven [...]]]> In the run-up to the 2010 Shanghai Expo, we’ve been collaborating with the UK Pavilion to design a competition and curate illustration, graphic design, and animation works from young emerging Chinese creatives.

Based on the theme “Your Hope for the Future” and the UK Pavilion’s focus on sustainability / green, we worked with seven leading-edge Chinese creatives to produce individual artistic interpretations in their unique styles. These works were used to jump start a larger, user-generated content campaign, which you can learn more about and participate in here on Douban. Contestants have the opportunity to win RMB 4000 – 10,000 worth of prizes.

For the animation works, the UK band Keane provided their hit song “Everything’s Changing” as a soundtrack.

The series is called victim because many young people today in China have no sense of self-worth. They just go along with whatever everyone else is doing or thinking – actually, a lot adults are this way too. Most people don’t have a clue about what they like or what they want to do. As long as a group of people are doing something, or someone is convincing enough, most people will just blindly follow along.
