  • “BIAN” – an animation from beijing university students telling the story of competing baozi vendors

See below for a lovely animation titled “Bian” (匾) from students at Beijing University’s Digital Art school that tells the back and forth story of competing Baozi (steamed, meat / vegtable-filled buns) vendors from a time’s past. The struggle centers around the signage that the vendors use to name their shops. Their efforts to out-do each other culminates in the downfall of both. The film is full of traditional Chinese cultural visual and musical elements / references. Great stuff!

We hope you enjoy as much as we do!
