For anyone who has dreamed about engaging in a full-combat kung-fu and knife fight with your elementary teacher, this animation is for you! “The Red” comes from students at the Communication University of China and tells the story of a comic-loving student who gets into trouble with his teacher…a situation that quickly and dramatically escalates (at least in the student’s imagination).

While the action in the animation draws the viewer in, the film also reflects the education experience of post-80s generation kids in China and the strong impression it made on them.

One Response to ““THE RED” – an animation for comic lovers and those who wish they had stood up to the teacher”

  1. This is probably the best Chinese animation short I’ve seen all year. Love it – especially the use of silence in the opening scenes, the in-and-out focus / depth-of-filed tricks throughout, the Feiyue close up at 3’20″, and best of all, the ending showing the teacher enjoying what she forbids. Bravo! Thanks for sharing.
