The former DKNY mural on Houston Street became a New York City icon and unofficial entrance to the SoHo neighborhood from 1992 to 2008, capturing the spirit and the skyline of Manhattan. This summer, DKNY brings the iconic logo back completely reimagined with the #DKNYARTWORKS
Ten artists in ten international cities were asked to create original artwork framed within the letters of the DKNY logo, reinterpreting the iconic SoHo wall through their own unique artistic perspective, inspired by New York City.
#DKNYARTWORKS is a global collection of outdoor art installations designed to connect DKNY, New York and art within ten cities around the world. Each original work captures an artistic expression of the New York City skyline within the frame of the DKNY logo, bringing New York to the world.
For #DKNYARTWORKS, we collaborated with EDGE Creative Collective
members Calvin Ho
and Nod Young
to create the Hong Kong and Shanghai designs / installations, respectively. The Hong Kong design uses bold graphic shapes and colors to reflect the beauty, diversity, and pace of New York City, while the Shanghai design draws from the architecture and people of a busy New York City day.
In addition to the Hong Kong and Shanghai installations, we also produced the teaser video for the campaign, as well as a full-length campaign documentary that captures the inspiration for each of the 10 artists from around the world.
